Broke the stall! 2 pounds lost this week!
That is 63 pounds total lost so far!
I am trying something that I really think is working for blowing through a weight loss stall. I started tracking my food and that was very telling. I was eating more carbs and calories than I realized.
Even with a tiny tummy I still have to decide what I am going to eat and when. Trying to figure out why I was in a stall was making me do tons of research. This week I decided to start the 16/8 intermittent fast protocols and stick with a HFLC eating lifestyle. I think this has made all of the difference in breaking my weight-loss stall and get the fat burning off me and not losing muscle.
My doctors recommendations for VSG Post Op follow right along these lines diet wise as well. No wheat, no sugar, full fat, and small amounts of full dairy. Basically no processed foods at all. Even hot dogs are out, but real made sausage is okay. It's basically meat, salads and lots of eggs. I keep my net carbs between 20 - 30 per day. It has been around 1100 calories per day average.
I have been weighing my food to get the truth on what I am actually eating, that has been helpful too. I like the reassurance and want the data on what is working and not. I don't feel hungry or deprived at all and the scale has started to move down again. I have also noticed it's my belly fat that is melting away faster than anyplace else right now.
37 Week Post Op VSG
218 lbs. ~ 43 inches lost so far!
It's the fasting that is the new thing that I think is making me leaner faster. So my eating schedule looks like this:
7:30pm - 11:30am 16 hour fast. (Sleep 7 - 8 hours, Water, coffee only)
11:30am ~ Meal 1: Drink 18 oz. water then eat LCHF ( around 350 calories each)
3:30pm ~ Meal 2: Drink 18 oz. water then eat LCHF ( around 350 calories each)
6:30pm ~ Meal 3: Drink 18 oz. water then eat LCHF ( around 350 calories each)
Yea, I am hella serious!
and yea, I just said hella.
I used to drink my coffee with cream in the mornings, but that won't work with fasting, so I just ordered some Bulletproof Coffee and Brain Octane Oil to try out BULLETPROOF COFFEE'S in the mornings. I'll let you know all about it's effects after I try it out. : )
I may allow myself one day a week to just eat whatever I want, like on a Saturday for instance. What I have been finding is, when I don't eat sugar or flour, I feel much better. I have no cravings and I am more alert and my brain and thinking feel clearer. I also notice when I eat sugar or flour, I crash the next day. I feel like I have a hangover and like total crap. Friday nights are my party nights usually. I plan for cocktails. So lately it's been 5 days a week Mon. - Fri. my high fat, low carb lifestyle with 16/8 intermittent fasting.
Friday night, vodka, white wine or Champagne and Saturday partake of at least one high carb shumthin, shumthin, and Sunday recover. It sort of resembles a Carb Cycling principle and I still get too party, try out to the newest sexiest restaurants in San Francisco on the weekends and not feel like I am missing out on my social life. Remember, I have a tiny ass tummy, I can't eat much anyways. I just don't want to freak myself out with a strict diet of any kind and suffer the psychological cycle of feeling deprived and obsess over food. I will monitor how this goes. I may have to stay stricter and go full on Ketosis to get to my goal weight faster and do that weekend plan as part of maintenance down the road. We will see.
I am in the honeymoon phase of this VSG surgery still. They say you lose most all of your weight the first two years after surgery. I am in month 9, and am half way to my goal. Not having the hunger hormone in my body - Ghrelin being produced, was the very best part of the VSG surgery. I do have hunger, but it is nothing like it was before surgery.
I have 73 more pounds to lose to make my goal weight of 145 lbs. I was a size 28 when I started, I wear a size 18 today and it's becoming loose on me. I unpacked some boxes from storage recently and found my favorite "Little black dress", it's a size 8. I have it hanging on my wall as my new goal of body measurement. It's motivation for sure.
I start my new job Feb 29th and with it will come new and better healthier daily routines from the start. I will get to my goal, get leaner and stronger, one pound and day at a time. Thanks for following along.
If you are considering VSG weight-loss surgery, LCHF or trying intermittent fasting, - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!
I think I made "My Fitness Pal" public, so if you want to join along on that too , join, IT'S FREE!
